First, the game. Who doesn't love a good ol' fashioned game of BINGO?! It's one of those games that can be modified to fit just about anything being taught in the classroom... yet it's crazy fun. I use BINGO sheets a lot (... a LOT!!!) in my class. Since my kiddos are intervention (aka, struggling with reading), I have to make their double dose lessons fun to keep their attention and increase comprehension. In comes BINGO.
Sometimes I will use their trick words. Other times I will use nonsense words. I've even been known to use proper nouns, contractions, compound words, vocabulary and phrases.
(Note: I usually type in the boxes but unfortunately, my freebie isn't editable so you'll have to print out the pages and hand-write the words you want to use. But then I recommend laminating them or putting them in a sheet protector. This keep them durable for as long as possible.)
For covering up the squares, you can either use dry erase markers, foam shapes or paper scraps. And of course, there is a "free space" on each board... a spring chickie.
