Meet Miss B.

First and foremost, I am a mom. A proud mom. A single mom. A mom of one fantastic 10 year old rockstar! He is my world... I am is... and life is good.

I never dreamed of being a teacher. I have always loved kids and had a special way with them, but I figured I'd never be qualified to actually teach them. However, after years of working in the corporate world, leaving my son and missing him like crazy all day long, I decided to make the career change so I could spend more time with him and become one step more involved in his education.

I started out doing Title 1 reading. That was quite the experience. I started out running the entire program by myself... then got to work under a couple different Reading Specialists. I learned a lot. I grew a lot. And I made a lot of incredible connections with the kiddos I worked with.

But then the Title 1 funding was cut back in my district so it was time for me to make a switch... to Kindergarten... as an Enrichment Teacher. I now have two classes of incredible kiddos that I get to work with every day to reinforce everything they're learning. I teach them science and social studies and reading and phonics and art. We sing, we dance, we play... we do crafts and make-believe... but all the while, we're learning and getting ready for 1st grade.

I love the kids I work with. I love being a part of such a great Kinder team. I love the teachers I get to work alongside. I. LOVE. MY. JOB!!!

I am still working on my degree and haven't decided yet if I want to stay in enrichment or eventually transition to a full-day classroom teacher. (I'm thinking 1st or 2nd grade) I'm sure there's pros and cons for both. But for now, I am completely happy where I am and look forwarding to seeing what tomorrow will bring!
